5 out of 5 stars EVERYTHING I was looking for in a desk chair   June 9, 2007

Here's what I was looking for in a home-office chair:
1. Mesh back for air circulation, comfortable seat
2. No arms (they run into my desk and when I use the arms I lean to one side of the chair and after an hour or two my back aches)
3. Not a lot of bulk but plenty of comfortable back support, including lumbar and mid-back
4. Light weight for easier maneuverability on carpet (I have no mat and don't want one if I can avoid it)
5. Adjustable seat height (pneumatic preferred); other adjustments for me are not needed
6. Inexpensive
7. Not ugly
8. Durable - ?

This chair has it ALL - I could hardly believe it. The user reviews were what sold me; I just could not believe a chair with such an inexpensive price tag had all the features I wanted. As others have said, easy, easy, EASY to assemble and everything you need is provided in the box.

Durability is my only question mark as I've only been sitting in it for 60 minutes, but even if it only lasts a year I'll be happy and will buy one every year if necessary! As soon as I sat in it I felt a HUGE improvement in comfort from my old clunky high-back plether chair with arms.

And this chair's not ugly! It looks very sleek with my desk. I never write product reviews, but this chair made me want to write about it!

Warranty note: There was no information in the box regarding a warranty (except a note saying there is one), so I went online to the mfr ("Office Star") and learned it is a "Work Smart" chair, model EX80, and it has a 5-yr warranty on nonmoving parts, a 2-yr warranty for moving parts, and 1-yr warranty on the fabric. Warranty not valid for users 200+ pounds.

I hope this review was helpful to you!

UPDATE: 5 months later and I still love it!
UPDATE #2: 1 year, 4 months later: Still love it! No problems. I did notice that it has gone up in price. Too bad, but still worth it in my opinion.

I was able to assemble the chair in 20 mins after opening the box. It is quite comfortable and fits in to my small PC desk perfectly. It looks stylish. It is definetely a good deal for the price.

This is a very comfortable chair. I work at my desk and, therefore, sit for very long stretches of time. The back of the chair is molded perfectly. And the price is right. Note: You need to weigh less than 200 lbs.

5 out of 5 stars Good value, comfortable, has lasted longer than expected   June 8, 2007

This is a comfortable, though basic, work chair. The mesh back provides good support and the design is sort of a blatant copy of a much pricier Herman Miller chair. I've had chairs from the usual office supply stores that routinely fall apart a year later. This one has held up much better than I expected. Sure, it is not Herman Miller, but then it does not cost eight hundred bucks either. It has no sidearms (which was a desirable feature for me, but others might prefer having them). The only downside is that the height adjustment lift does not raise it much. I just measured it and it can only go up to 39 inches above the floor from the top of the chair and 18 inches from the seat to the floor. Assembly was a snap (took 5 minutes).

Your local Target might have these in store, so I recommend taking a closer look there. Good luck try it: The display in my store was mounted on the top of a shelf seven feet above the floor! It's a nice filler that was supposed to fill in until I mustered enough courage to spend money on the "real thing" (the much-imitated Hermain Miller. Since it has not yet fallen apart after a couple of years of regular use, I see little excuse to replace it. For the price and build quality, I am not disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Best Deal Around   December 13, 2006

Looking for a great armless chair? You just found it. This is an affordable chair, a comfortable chair, and a chair that is easy to assemble.

Trust me on this one. Unless you are going to spend 80 dollars or more, you are not going to find a better chair.

See ya next review.
